MISSOURI JCI SENATE SCHOLARSHIP **LOCAL ** 
DUE: Dec 10, 2013  
AMOUNT: $1,000 
DETAILS: Each year $1,000 grants will be awarded to high school seniors who are U.S. citizens 
graduating from U.S.  
accredited schools, and plan to continue their education at accredited post-secondary colleges, 
universities or vocational schools. The number of  
grants awarded annually will be at the discretion of the United States JCI Senate Foundation. They must 
be used for educational expenses in the first year  
of full-time study. The Missouri JCI Senate scholarships are highly selective based on not only academics 
but also special emphasis for

Sophomores & Juniors interested in Information Technology: 
 Cerner will be at Oak Park on Tuesday, December 3rd at 1:00 to talk 
with you about the Cerner Scholars program and Northland CAPS.
CERNER SCHOLARS: One or two-year program designed to support students in careers in the 
technology industry. Students are included in site-based work teams with Cerner personnel in an 
effort to provide real world work experiences. Students who are successful program participants have 
the opportunity to continue with Cerner through summer and post-secondary paid internships. For

 NORTHLAND CAPS PROGRAM: One or two year program modeled 
after the Blue Valley CAPS program, this strand is designed to provide students with industry 
experience/exposure to an authentic work group environment in four career fields. For juniors or 
seniors. There are four strands for the Northland CAPS: *Engineering & Advanced Manufacturing 
*Technology Solutions *Medicine & Healthcare *Global Business & Entrepreneurship. For More

NORTHLAND CAPS OPEN HOUSE 
December 5th & December 10th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Gladstone Community Center 
CAPS provide high school students in the Northland with a pre-professional, innovative and 
entrepreneurial education through career oriented experiences that are both hands on and real 
world. Northland CAPS students are immersed in professional environments engaging in curriculum 
developed by industry professionals and program instructors – ensuring that what is taught in the 
classroom is relevant to the workforce. Learning is enhanced by project work direct from industry 
partners CERNER, FORD, NORTH KANSAS CITY HOSPITAL and others who engage to mentor 
students and ensure timely, accurate and real project results. 
Learning at Northland CAPS is real-time, real-world and hands-on. Emphasis is placed on developing 
professional skills, such as communication and collaboration, which employers deem highly important to

 PTSA Reflections contest is open to 9-12 graders in many 
categories; Dance, Film, Music composition, photography and visual arts. The 
theme for the contest is "Believe, Dream, Inspire”. The applications for each 
category can be found at Mrs. Dameron’s room, 249A Deadline is December 
18.
